School Council

Our School Council offers an incredible opportunity for students to step into leadership roles and actively contribute to their school community. Elected by their peers, council members represent their classmates, sharing ideas and helping shape school life. But their role goes beyond the classroom! Our School Council meets with local MPs, visits council and Parliament buildings, and even speak to members of the House of Lords. These experiences give students a firsthand understanding of how local and national government works, inspiring them to make a difference.

Through the School Council, children not only develop essential skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving but also learn the importance of civic engagement and democracy. It’s a unique and exciting way for students to gain confidence, engage with leaders, fund raise for charity and take an active role in shaping the future of their school and community!

The School Council is run by Mrs Keevil. Every year group has 2 representatives on the Council. We meet regularly in Otters Class.

The key purposes of the School Council are:

To listen to the children’s ideas

To seek the view of the pupils

To improve the school and make it the best it can be

To work alongside the senior leadership team to help to improve our school

We do this by:

Working together collaboratively

Encouraging people to talk to us

Meeting regularly to discuss ideas and projects we are working on

Feeding back to our classes in our year base assemblies

We want to give to give all children the chance to make decisions about what happens at Malmesbury Park and help make it even better than it already is!

Keep an eye on the newsletter for news about what we are working on.
