Look! A crab, a crab with o shell, running along by the sea…

This book has tons and tons of new and exciting vocabulary for us to learn. We will be using this book to focus on verbs and adverbs. With our bank of newly learned words we will be able to really get to grips with past and present tense!
The Enormous Crocodile
The Enormous Crocodile is a greedy grumptious brute who loves to guzzle up little girls and boys. But the other animals have a scheme to get the better of this foul fiend ONCE AND FOR ALL!
Roald Dahl really is the world’s number 1 storyteller and we want to learn from the best. We will be working on our story writing skills, looking at character description, exciting sentences and story endings. If there’s anyone who knows how to choose an effective word to make the reader want to keep going, it’s Roald Dahl! We will be seeking those WOW words out and magpieing them for our own stories, riddles and role play!
Fantastic Mr Fox
Fox steals food from the horrible farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean. One fat, one short , one lean. These three crooks concoct a plan to dig Mr Fox out of his home but they don’t realise how truly fantastic Mr Fox is, or how far he’ll go to save his family…
Another classic Roald Dahl tale. We will be looking at this for 3 weeks of our project, as it is the longest class text we’ve looked at this year! In these pages we will learn more about excellent storytelling as well as the author’s style. We will start thinking of our own likes and dislikes within the text and focus on reading with expression and fluency. All this to help us continue to gain a love of reading and help us become creative, inspirational writers just like Roald Dahl.
